The La Jolla School system boasts some of the finest public schools in Southern California.  According to greatschools.net, La Jolla schools scored a 9 out of 10, with results based on public school test results.  In particular, Bird Rock Elementary, La Jolla Elementary, and Torrey Pines Elelmentary all received perfect 10 out of 10.  Muirlands Middel School and La Jolla High School also scored well, both receiving 8 out of 10. 

La Jolla is also home to the prestigious private school, The Bishop's School.  A college preparatory school affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop's School recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary.  The enrollment at Bishop's is 745, and the 2009-2010 tution is $26,500.  The average class size is 15, and the average teacher to student ratio is 8:1. 

The University of California-San Diego is also located in La Jolla.  Founded in 1960, UCSD is known as a research university.  U.S. News and World Report ranked UCSD as the 7th best public university in the nation.  The Princeton Review's annual college guide ranks it the 7th best value.  The campus enrollment is 28,500.
