La Jolla is also home to the prestigious private school, The Bishop's School. A college preparatory school affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop's School recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary. The University of California-San Diego is also located in La Jolla. Founded in 1960, UCSD is known as a research university.
